Robot Setup Tips#

Reparenting Assets#

You can change how reparenting behaves under Edit > Preferences, and on the Stage Panel, scroll down to authoring. The Checkbox “Keep Prim world Transform when reparenting” lets you decide when reparenting if the objects remain in place or if they get moved to the parent’s frame of reference. You can use this to your advantage to apply offsets or change the parent’s origin without impacting the children elements.

FAQ#

My robot explodes when I start the simulation.

If your robot explodes when you start the simulation, it is likely something is in collision at the start, such as the robot with another object, or the robot’s own collision geometry is not set up correctly. You can use the Collision Viewer tool in the Scene panel to visualize the collision geometry of the robot. The collision geometry should be a simplified version of the visual geometry of the robot. You can use the Collision Viewer tool to adjust the collision geometry of the robot. For more information, see Collision Viewer.
